EVENTS AND ACTIVITIES IN AND AROUND HILLVIEW GARDENS

1. ECO-TOURS
Hillview Gardens is a natural base for exploring eco-tourism opportunities:
If you are a nature lover, we are surrounded by lush greenery and you can choose to do many activities related to your interests:

Visit to Tenom Agricultural Park

This multi-million dollar Agricultural Park project covers an area of 1,500 acres completed in 2001 is located about one hour drive from Hillview Gardens and offers visitors one of the most comprehensive collections of both wild and native orchids and other flowers found in the region.
Entrance fee is RM25-00 (aboutUSD6-00) and you will enjoy the vast array of botanical treasures they have put together in a beautifully lanscaped gardens.

Visit to Yit Foh Coffee Factory

This factory is owned and operated by friends of Hillview Gardens and is a worthwhile visit to see the how, where and what they do to package together one of the most unique coffee flavours in the valley !
You will be welcomed as you arrive and treated to a tour of the main coffee processing areas where they still use a combination of nostalgic era grinding machines to modern blister packed packaging offers.
A very popular tour, you will get to sample their inhouse hospitality which includes all flavours of coffee as you sign their guest book.

Visit to the Rubber Factory
The rubber factory is also a very interesting place to visit. Most of us see rubber in all its modern forms now. And we do not realise that the humble rubber tree is where is all starts. This tour will give you a better insight into how it is processed - from latex to bales of rubber for further processing into gloves, shoes and numerous other everyday products!

Visit to Ostrich Farm

Ostrichs never fail to amuse everyone with their loong necks and powerful kicks ! An interesting tour too.. very near to hillview Gardens!

Visit to Deer farm
This farm is run by the Malaysian Veterinary Department and is located about 5 minutes drive from Hillview Gardens. Deers from Indonesia and New Zealand are bred for their deer velvet products.

Visit the Milk Dairy
Probably a common sight in other countries. But here in Keningau, the production of fresh milk is a colllective effort by Dairy farmers who work very closely with the Main processing center run by the Veterninary Department. This is a good tour that will combine education as well as proximity to the source of our daily fresh milk !

2. HANDS ON ACTIVITIES

Jungle Trekking

If you want to enjoy the wide open countryside and sample some of the jungle trekking, we can arrange for you to take several suggested treks that will allow you to experience the wonders of borneo!

Tree Planting,Nature and Environmental Conservation and Recycling Awareness

At our sister gardens, Eagle Plateau, we offer our guests the wonderful opportunities of planting their trees as well as learning about recycling, conservation and other meaningful survival programs

Keningau Golf and Country Club

For our golfing Guests, you might be interested to know that we have a beautiful 18 hole golf course located just 20 minutes drive from Hillview Gardens. If you are keen to take in some golf with other actvities do let us know in advance so we can assist you with your plans.

ADVENTURE SIDE TRIPS

White Water Rafting - Padas River

Leave Hillview Gardens in the morning to catch the special RailCar at Tenom Railway Station. Travel on nostalgic railway lines along the Padas River Gorge to Pangi where you will join the White Water Rafting adventure. Enjoy the thrilling experience of rafting to Rayoh and then catch the railcar back to Tenom where we have transport waiting to drive you back to Hillview Gardens to rest and relax at our salt water based swimming pool.

This Adventure is sure to leave a mark on your borneo trip as you sample the thrills of riding the waves at Headhunter rapids and Cobra Point Rapids and more!

Ultralight Flying

UltraLight flying is not for everyone but if you feel like it its one of the most rewarding hobby being able to fly and watch the world from a very beautiful vantage point.. Keningau is very well positioned to offer such an adventure because of the low air traffic situation.

Cycling
We have several Mountain Bikes you can use to do a leisurely exploration on wheels of the keningau valley! And just to make it more interesting, we can attach a 2 way radio on your bicycle so you can never get lost!

Enjoy photo opportunities cyclying along scenic mountain routes and down to a nice riverside picnic ground before our pick up point to take you back to Hillview Gardens.

Buffaloe Rides and visit to Padi Fields

For the young and the restless.. This is a photo opportunity tour. We can arrange a visit to the actual padi fields so you can understand the ground that feeds so many with our staple food.. rice!

Fishing Trip at Mary and Angelo's Farm, Kampung Tondulu, Tambunan

If you enjoy fishing, you will love the visit to a this special place where you fish and then bar b q the caught fish in the rustic shed above the river!
Somehow the fish, mostly talapia variety taste so much better too!
